Princess & Prince Syndrome
Nowadays more and more children suffering from the "Princess Syndrome" and "PrinceSyndrome", they are not willing to pour their own water to drink, they need to have others to help them wear clothes and pack their bags, every things is needed to serve dignitaries. Children with these syndromes are mostly caused by the parents. Many families have only one child, they are loved by many, needed to be pampered and serve, these children develop the habit of dependence, lack of even basic self-care ability.
Experts from the Hong Kong Mood Disorders Centre survey released from the previous years which is only 10% to about 30% in recent years, many of them accused of all sorts of loving parents and their children, focusing only on academics achievement, which their child lack the self-care ability, when the child reach 12 to 13 of age, they don't even know how to wash their hair, wear their clothes, tied their shoelaces.
These well-pampered children usually live in a materialize lifestyle families. Clinical psychologists say that these children starting very beginning from childhood are led by their parents to make their plans for their life, with housemaid pamper their every needs, even spoiled, often angry, unable to adapt to new things, and urgent need for people to protect and accommodate, having these 3 "low ability syndroms: low self-care ability, low emotional intelligence and low resilience.
Parents love their children's attitude is very normal, but don't neglact children with Princess or Prince Syndrome is a minor problem , as the children grow up, the problem will get worse because people do not understand and get along with the impact of social contact, but also because of the lack of responsibility and the impact of academic achievements and future career, so it must not be underestimate.
Syndrome Characteristics:
- frequent temper; - self-centered, always accommodating dignitaries; - dominate behavior; - spoiled, dependent on others, lack of self-care ability; - simple minded; - lack of money concepts, waste, don't know how to value objects; - cannot withstand setbacks;
Family Education from the Beginning :
- setting guidelines for reward and punishment; - instilling the concept of money; - should always finish one's own duty; - to participate in group activities; - create stress enviornment for children; - parents set a good example; - exercise children perseverance;
