The Social Issues of Primary Students (1)
A kindergarten year-3 child will promote to Primary School on the following September. It is not similar to nursery or kindergarten year-1, mother and child reluctant to say goodbye, no longer crying, and staying out of the classroom door. Normally, these sorts of matters will not be seen in the Primary School. However, another environment, atmosphere, and unpredictable people would engender more and more incidents happen. New venue, new regulation will affect the social, along with other issues of a freshman of primary school. Social ability is the pivotal factor that would affect the whole life of primary school. The first impression will influence the following days of school life. Certainly, we are not looking forward to have a sophisticated child at the first day of primary school life, be polite, physical and psychological well-being could be acceptable. Social problem, the simplest one is afraid of speaking or greeting to the strangers, and please pay attention whether the child has phobia to the environment or not, but if the parents have to prepare earlier, tell your children more about that, it will not be a problem. Other situations, such as make friendship with new people which could explain to the child earlier; may be he or she is introvert or shy, parents could elaborate the concept of making friendship, he could try to make friendship with anybody who is inviting you sincerely, or you could reject but gently, and whatnot. All these situations, the children could keep it in their mind through the discussion with parents. Some Primary school will arrange the pre-school class for the freshman. In fact, some parents have not prepared for their children, or some children are suffering from ADD, HAD, Autism, Mutism…etc. Parents have to bear in mind if they are in the above situation that they have to prepare for the children earlier. As long as some parent tries not to get ready for their children, they must consciously focus on the feedback of children after school. Firstly, parent has to observe their feedback or mental situation after school; and also, the children is in the normal situation in term of emotion, appetite, and sleep hygiene. Parent must remember the social situation and school life has been affected by burnout. Secondly, let the children to talk more about school life, mood or anything they want to talk, please don’t try to stop them, to limit their content or topic, or talk your favorite topic only, even the threatening, controlling models would not be the good methods to encourage the children to do better. Regardless your child learnt the social ability skills or not, how could we cope with if they get the social problems?
