Children and their learning disabilities

In Hong Kong, there is about 10% of student have different degrees of learning disabilities, including dyslexia cases, the most common, affecting word recognition, reading and writing skills, gifted children are not spared, with primary school students need 10 hours a day to do homework. If parents do feel their child is having difficulty going into primary school can take their child for assessment in early training.

 

A professor from HKU Department of Psychology, pointed out that dyslexia is the most common learning disabilities, about 80%, this disorder can tie down a child's life. These children as early signs of pre-emergence stage, the most obvious is their speaking ability was weak, cannot recognize repeated reading subject, and cannot even remember the names of friends to form social and learning problems. Grow up is the same with their primary and secondary school year began to encounter difficulties, attention and organizational capacity is weak, writing skills, even packing their school bag has a problem, even with their parents help, especially in dictation, still receive a few low score. The remaining 20-30% of reasons is the environmental factors, which can lead to temporary learning difficulties.

 

 

Preschool early characteristics of dyslexia potential

 

1. Memory is weak, unable to remember even repeated words.

2. Cannot say the names of everyday objects.

3. Writing and reading speed is slower.

4. Unable to remember lyrics from songs after practice.

5. Difficulty in understanding letters and words.

6. Voice recognition capability is weak.

7. Hands rhythm and motion difficulties.

8. Concentration and organization skills are significantly weaker.

9. Cannot speck out their classmates names.
