Sucking pacifier doesn’t affect baby appetite

(May 2, 2012)

Pacifiers can increase appetite. A US study following-up 2,249 babies born from June 2010 to August 2011. A group of babies can be given the pacifier when they are restless or crying, while another group are not entitled to the pacifier, but the parents are comforting them by side. Study then compares the food intake of the two groups of infant, and found that those babies never suck pacifier, take 11% lesser milk than those do.

The researcher says that this study found that the babies are not calm down when they are confused, their appetite will definitely be reduced, so he suggest that it is good to further study the relationship between the use of pacifiers and feeding.
